Preventing "Asphaltene" Residue in Oil Wells

Researchers of the Petroleum Engineering Department of the Amirkabir University of Technology used the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) coding and came up with a software that predicts asphaltene buildup in oil wells. “Using this software, we are able to improve the exploitation and transportation of crude oil for the first time,” said Mohammad Masah, a Ph.D. graduate of AUT. He added: “we predicted asphaltene buildup with high accuracy without using experimental regulatory parameters. This theory is the most versatile way which is suitable for multiphase fluid flow in various situations.”
Ehsan Khamechi and Seyed Ali Mousavi Dehghani were supervisors, and Bahram Dabir and Hamid Nadran were advisors for this project.
