Innovative Absorbent for Sewage and Water Treatment

 | Post date: 2022/10/1 |
The researchers of Amirkabir University of Technology’s chemistry department succeeded in providing a solution for sewage and water treatment using a sludge and sugarcane waste-based absorbent.
“In this research, two environmental wastes, sludge and sugarcane bagasse, have been transformed into a valuable product for water treatment, using the hydrothermal carbonization method in the aquatic environment. Compared to other adsorbent production methods, this can be performed at a lower temperature and does not require pre-processing of the raw material (dehydrating), and therefore the adsorbent production has a much lower cost.” Mohammad Ebrahim Maloul, a PhD student at the university, stated
The Supervisors of this project are Dr. Mustafa Keshavarz Moraveji, a faculty member of Amirkabir University of Technology and Dr. Jalal Shaygan, a faculty member of Sharif University of Technology
