Lightest Material in the World for Batteries and Supercapacitors

Researchers at Amirkabir University of Technology were able to acquire the technical knowledge to make the world's lightest material called Aerographene and engineer its structure for use in batteries and supercapacitors. Arash Ghazitabar stated that Aerographene is the world's lightest material and can be used to decrease the overall weight of the equipment. He continued listing the applications of this material: Removing metallic pollutants (such as copper, zinc, cobalt and nickel) from wastewater, removing petroleum-based pollutants (such as benzene, xylene, toluene) from water, using it to extract gold, protecting the equipment from electromagnetic waves, creating thermoacoustic and acoustic properties, lightening the equipment, increasing the lifespan of internal batteries (up to 5 years and capacity upgrade to 15%), upgrading the capacity of supercapacitors and lithium-ion batteries (capacity increase and weight reduction) are all but some of the usages of the foresaid material.
