The head of the Mining Engineering Department of Amirkabir University of Technology emphasized the importance of focusing on innovation in the mining sector and the formation of the fourth industrial revolution in the country.
The head of the Mining Engineering Department at Amirkabir University of Technology emphasized the importance of focusing on innovation in the mining sector and the formation of the fourth industrial revolution in the country. Unfortunately, in our country, two large categories of mines are owned, which has led to innovation and competition entering our mining sector with slowness. Hopefully, with good decision-making, the fourth industrial revolution and innovation will be pursued diligently. Dr. Hamed Moladavodi, in the nineteenth Mining Week celebration, while extending condolences on the loss of the martyrs of service, emphasized that this unfortunate event led to a delay of about 11 days in holding this ceremony. However, the efforts of student associations, professorial support, and companies led us to hold this ceremony again. He mentioned the importance of the mining sector in the country's economy and its enhancement, stating that our mines and mining industries are one of the non-oil economic fields today because of high growth, high material diversity, and abundant reserves in the country. This sector has emerged as one of the prominent driving sectors in recent years, contributing significantly to non-oil exports and earning foreign exchange for the country, replacing oil under sanction conditions.
The head of the Mining Engineering Department at Amirkabir University of Technology pointed out: "On the other hand, mines can play an important role in creating employment in underprivileged areas, poverty alleviation, and establishing social justice." Over the past decade, the share of mines in the country's gross domestic product was insignificant, but in recent years, we have seen growth in this share compared to other sectors such as agriculture and so on. Therefore, this requires more attention from the government and industry leaders. Maladavodi emphasized the importance of innovation in the country's mining sector, saying: "This is a necessity, and we must pursue innovation as major mining companies worldwide diligently do." Unfortunately, in our country, two large categories of mines are owned, which has led to innovation and competition entering our mining sector with slowness. Hopefully, with good decision-making, the fourth industrial revolution and innovation will be pursued diligently. He recalled: "Unfortunately, our country has had a passive approach in the previous industrial revolutions, namely the first, second, and third, where events happened on a global scale, and rulers followed them, lagging significantly in this area."
The university professor emphasized the importance of not having a passive or whimsical approach in the fourth industrial revolution, which involves smart automation, using new technologies like artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, machine learning, self-driving cars, IoT for tracking and routing machinery and integrating it into the internet system, etc. We need to play a major role in these industrial transformations by using internal capacities and expertise. At the continuation of this ceremony, Kian Mir Aftabzadeh, the secretary of the mining faculty's scientific association at Amirkabir University of Technology, stressed that this event, like the 18 previous sessions, was held simultaneously with Miner's Day but was delayed by 11 days this year due to the martyrs' sacrifices. The 19th Mining Week celebration revolves around the role of the fourth industrial revolution. Students, as in previous sessions, helped to organize this event. The main theme of the 19th Mining Week celebration, based on the Supreme Leader's statements, focuses on the future development and progress of mining in the country. Considering the general view of industrial and mining countries on automation and mechanizing data in mines, students and industry leaders should pay more attention in this area. It is worth mentioning that veteran professors and national examples of the Mining Engineering Department were honored at this event.
