In line with enhancing the skillsets of students and establishing sustainable employment for them, Amirkabir University of Technology has signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct training courses.
According to the Public Relations Office of Amirkabir University of Technology, this agreement is part of the national program "Skill Empowerment of University Students and Graduates" with a focus on widespread employment. The memorandum was signed by Engineer Seyed Ali Hosseini, the Director General of the Technical and Vocational Organization of Tehran Province, and Dr. Alireza Rahai, the chancellor of the university.
The subject of this memorandum is the establishment of a Skill Training and Career Counseling Management Center as one of the branches of the Technical and Vocational Training Centers. Accordingly, it has been agreed to make necessary arrangements and plan for the implementation of training courses and to provide counseling and educational and career guidance services aligned with market needs.
The empowerment of university students and graduates across various campuses is aimed at fulfilling the country's need for efficient human resources with technical, skill-based, and professional experience, facilitating productive employment for graduates of various academic fields, and utilizing the educational and research capacities of both parties to achieve organizational missions and obligations.
The commitments of the Technical and Vocational Organization include granting the license to establish this center to Amirkabir University of Technology, designating one of the technical and vocational training centers under its supervision as the "designated center," and introducing its director to the university. This also includes evaluating the technical qualifications of the trainers introduced by the center, entering their data into a special system if approved, and the final review and approval of defined training courses.
Additionally, the organization will issue skill certificates for those who pass the final exams of the center, or provide certificates and confirmations for applicants participating in special training courses.
In this memorandum of understanding, both parties committed to collaborating on publishing articles related to the subjects of the agreement in their respective journals and magazines, producing films and other necessary educational and supplementary resources, and facilitating the implementation of internship, practicum, laboratory, and workshop courses at Amirkabir University of Technology in both public and private technical and vocational training centers.
It is noteworthy that the Cultural Affairs Office of the university will oversee the implementation of this plan, and details will be announced via the office's website at farhangi.aut.ac.ir.

Amirkabir University of Technology chancellor Announced:
Revision of All Undergraduate Course Curricula/University Program for Skill Development of Students
The chancellor of Amirkabir University of Technology announced the completion of the revision of all undergraduate course curricula at the university and stated that through the memorandum of understanding with the Technical and Vocational Organization, the university's students will receive skill training.
According to the Public Relations Office of Amirkabir University of Technology, Dr. Alireza Rahai emphasized at the signing ceremony of the memorandum with the Technical and Vocational Organization of Tehran Province that there are approximately 20 research institutes and centers at Amirkabir University of Technology. While the primary nature of this university is in the fields of technical and engineering studies, it also has faculties in management, mathematics, and physics. Nonetheless, the core focus remains on technical and engineering subjects.
He further clarified that all faculties at Amirkabir University of Technology accept students at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels, and the university’s entrants are generally capable and talented individuals. The chancellor of Amirkabir University of Technology mentioned that one of the problems faced by students is their lack of familiarity with professional topics, noting that one reason for this is the absence of opportunities in traditional education to address skill-related matters beyond the main subjects, which is a deficiency. Although we have made efforts at a higher education level, such as revising educational programs, it is fortunate that all undergraduate educational programs for the university's students have been reviewed.
Rahai emphasized that although the revisions cannot fully address the skill-related issues, what is being provided is at an internship and training level. Therefore, establishing joint collaborations with the Technical and Vocational Organization can create better opportunities for students to engage in skill-related areas.
A professor at Amirkabir University of Technology expressed hope that the implementation of skill-training courses resulting from the memorandum of understanding with the Technical and Vocational Organization would assist students from this university in entering skill-related fields.

Skill Development: The Missing Link Between Industry and University

The Director General of the Technical and Vocational Organization of Tehran Province, referring to the joint collaboration with Amirkabir University of Technology in the field of skill development, stated that countries that have prioritized skill development in their national agendas have a significant voice in the world. Engineer Seyed Ali Hosseini, during the signing of the memorandum with Amirkabir University of Technology, emphasized the importance of honoring the role of science and scholars, adding that if we want to feel significant, we must engage with science.
He highlighted the need for skills at the interface between science and technology, stating that if we possess skills, we can transform knowledge into wealth. Therefore, the issue of skill development is vital, and countries that have made skills the focal point of their development strategies have a meaningful presence on the global stage.
Hosseini continued, stating that while skill development is acknowledged in the country, it has not been institutionalized as it should be. We have individuals who have achieved the highest academic ranks, but in practical applications that create opportunities for utilization, they may lack the necessary capabilities.
The Director General of the Technical and Vocational Organization of Tehran Province reminded that fortunately, the Supreme Skills Council has been established, with this organization serving as its secretariat. Among the most reputable bodies advancing the issue of skill officially and legally is the Technical and Vocational Organization.
He noted that the organization hosts capable trainers who possess high skills in transferring their experiential knowledge. Many of our trainees have distinguished themselves globally, achieving recognition in international skill competitions.
The Director of the Technical and Vocational Organization of Tehran expressed hope that the collaboration between these two entities would not be limited to this memorandum of understanding, saying, "We wish to share some of our achievements and capabilities."
