All laboratory macroscopic procedures are device-free and at the loop and microscope level. The lithology laboratory based on the syllabus is a purely educational lab and its services are for undergraduate students of mining exploration and mining exploitation. The identification of rocks and minerals is based on color, hardness, cleavage, texture and structure, naming, classification, and crystallization system. Other non-educational services carried out with the help of a thin section, mineralogy, x-ray and geochemistry laboratories.

- Academic and research studies on precious stones regarding mineralogical and crystallographic aspects
- Theoretical and practical training of various rocks specimens
- Identification and evaluation of the various rocks in terms of type, quality and structure initially and after quantitative (chemical) and qualitative (mineral) analysis
- Petrographical and mineralogical study using macroscopical and microscopical methods
- Sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rocks samples
