The Vice President for Research and Technology at Amirkabir University of Technology described the Research and Technology Department as the beating heart of the university, stating that "scientific and technological authority" and "industry connection" are two important missions defined for the technological and research domain of this university. Dr. Mohammad Zaman Kabir, during the ceremony honoring and introducing the new director of industry relations at Amirkabir University, characterized the university as one of the distinguished technical universities in the country and mentioned that it, as a contender for a third-generation university, aims to transition into a fourth-generation university. Accordingly, the research domain, especially in terms of industry relations, holds significant importance for this academic institution. He further introduced research and technology as the beating heart of Amirkabir University of Technology, emphasizing that the university has missions in two areas: research and technology, with "scientific and technological authority" and "industry connection" being of great importance as these two missions. The Vice President for Research and Technology at Amirkabir University emphasized that significant sub-units such as the Office of Industry Relations, research institutes, the section for inventions and intellectual property, and the close relationship with technology parks, which are currently of special significance for the university, fall under the research and technology vice presidency. This full professor at Amirkabir University continued by stating that the Office of Industry Relations is a very sensitive part where monitoring the sub-units and the activities of experts, as well as the outputs of this section, is very important, to the extent that Dr. Ahmadi, the former director of this office, worked hard in this area.
The former director of the Office of Industry Relations at Amirkabir University of Technology announced a 40% increase in the volume and absorption of research contracts with industries over the past three years.
The former director noted that the volume of concluded contracts and the attraction of these contracts at Amirkabir University of Technology tripled during the period from 1400 to 1403, stating, "In the first nine months of this year, we concluded contracts worth about 180 billion tomans, with approximately 110 billion tomans being research contracts."
Dr. Mohammad Ahmadi, during the ceremony, presented a report on the most important actions and activities carried out by the Office of Industry Relations in recent years. He said, "During our tenure, we aimed to advance both project management, oversight, and control, as well as the practical application of research and technological development. Unfortunately, the university's financial issues over the past two years hindered some activities, but we made significant progress in this direction."
He further clarified, "In the field of management, oversight, and project control at Amirkabir University, we implemented the Sampa system, which allows professors, managers, the Vice President for Research, and the university president to manage projects. Additionally, we designed a technology service system, but due to financial difficulties, we couldn't advance this work. However, this system is a foundation that can help in applying knowledge, research, and enhancing the relevance of faculty research."
He emphasized that the volume of concluded contracts and their absorption at Amirkabir University of Technology increased threefold from 1400 to 1403, noting that in the first nine months of the year, about 180 billion tomans were contracted, with approximately 110 billion tomans in research contracts, marking a 40% increase compared to the previous year.
Dr. Ahmadi added, "At the Office of Industry Relations at Amirkabir University of Technology, we have tried to activate research institutes and research centers in the area of research contracts, as well as engage the faculties in this domain."
The former director of the Office of Industry Relations at Amirkabir University of Technology emphasized that, due to the dissolution of the university's campuses, unfortunately, the research institutes had a disorganized structure and procedures, which became very chaotic. However, through collaboration with the faculty of these research institutes, we succeeded in correcting the procedures and drafting updated protocols. As a result, many of the faculty's issues will be resolved with this initiative.
Dr. Ahmadi also stressed the efforts made to facilitate the recruitment of collaborating researchers at Amir Kabir University, stating that we have taken steps to increase the recruitment volume of faculty collaborating researchers. Additionally, a faculty member as a collaborating researcher was hired at the university. Moreover, we have also seen growth in hiring faculty members in the research institutes.
Regarding intellectual property in the research institutes at Amirkabir University, he mentioned that the university serves as an arbitration authority for patent validation for the National Organization for Registration of Deeds and Properties, which we carry out through two systems, Saba and Sara. I have tried to engage in the field of patent validation as well, and the Sara system has been launched for this purpose.
The former director of the Office of Industry Relations at Amirkabir University reminded that the declining statistics of domestic and international inventions that emerged in 1400 due to the COVID-19 pandemic have now been reversed.
This professor at Amirkabir University added that, based on an agreement with the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, approximately one billion tomans will be allocated in support of specialized bulletins. Furthermore, the university's employment generation club will also be revitalized and resume its activities.
According to him, an offline system was established at Amirkabir University of Technology to offer skill-based courses, which is currently providing services and skill enhancement training. This summer, we offered these courses free of charge to all students on a voluntary basis, with 1,200 participants acquiring these skills.
The former director of the Office of Industry Relations at Amirkabir University of Technology noted that organizing the university's job fair is another initiative in the field of industry relations. This fair will be held in May as part of career guidance activities.
Ahmadi pointed out the increase in the recruitment of military service personnel and talented individuals at Amirkabir University of Technology, stating that about three years ago, only one or two individuals were recruited as military service personnel every few months. However, with correspondence with the Ministry of Science, this number has increased, resulting in about four or five individuals being recruited every two months. Additionally, we facilitated the process for talented military personnel by amending the regulations.
Continuing, Dr. Mohammad Sharifi, the new director of the Office of Industry Relations at Amirkabir University, stated that we all need to lead our part of the university puzzle. He said that by looking at the guidelines and higher-level policies of the country, we can secure investments and budgets from these sectors and centers, and the university's focus should be directed towards this.
The new director of the Office of Industry Relations at Amirkabir University of Technology added that the main focus of this office's activities should not move in a direction where success is less likely due to existing bureaucracies. Instead, we should concentrate our efforts in areas where the probability of success is higher. In the Office of Industry Relations, we must serve as facilitators by providing existing potentials outside to our colleagues, faculty members, and academic staff.
