The Mining and Mineral Industries Innovation Centre at Amirkabir University of Technology was inaugurated in the presence of Sardar Abed, Commander of Khatam al-Anbia Construction Headquarters, Dr. Alireza Rahaei, Chancellor of Amirkabir University of Technology, and Seyed Reza Shahcheraghi, CEO of the Specialized Industry and Mining Holding of Khatam Headquarters. According to the Public Relations Office of the Amirkabir University of Technology, the purpose of establishing this 160-square-meter center, which has been constructed by the private sector with financial support from Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters at the Faculty of Mining Engineering, is to strengthen scientific and research collaborations with organizations active in the mining sector. The Chancellor of Amirkabir University of Technology highlighted the university’s history of cooperation with industrial and defence institutions in the country, stating:
"We organized a program on the application of artificial intelligence in engineering and technical fields for a delegation from the Engineering Directorate of the Ministry of Defence. This Wednesday, another delegation from the General Staff of the Armed Forces will visit the university to evaluate projects and progress related to our agreement in the field of artificial intelligence." Dr. Rahaei, referring to Engineer’s Day, said: "Engineers play a crucial role in the country, and many of the advancements and services provided nationwide result from the work of the engineering community." He described Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters as one of the rare institutions in the country and the world, stating: "Following the Islamic Revolution, significant transformations took place across various industrial sectors. The establishment of this organization is a unique phenomenon. In the early years after the revolution, we faced many shortages, and the initial phase of service provision to various sectors and rural areas began with Jihad-e Sazandegi. Later, with the formation of Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters, a large-scale organization emerged in the country, which, through extensive planning and organization, has been a driving force behind many industrial and infrastructure developments in Iran." Dr. Rahaei emphasized that the establishment of this institution has been a great opportunity for the country and continued: "Today, we are honored to host the senior managers of Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters at our university, which is a valuable opportunity for us. Amirkabir University of Technology has a research and educational history of over 70 years, with more than 15,000 students currently studying in various engineering and technical disciplines." The Chancellor of Amirkabir University of Technology further noted that the university consists of 18 faculties, with 15 dedicated to engineering and technical disciplines, while the remaining three faculties focus on science, physics and mathematics, and management. He pointed out that alongside these faculties, the university has 24 research centres engaged in diverse scientific and technical research fields, addressing the country’s needs and making significant strides in crucial areas. Dr. Rahaei referred to a recent visit by a delegation from the Engineering Directorate of the Ministry of Defence, stating: "We organized a program for this delegation focusing on the application of artificial intelligence in engineering fields. This Wednesday, another delegation from the General Staff of the Armed Forces will visit the university to assess projects and progress made under our artificial intelligence collaboration agreement." He added: "Almost every week, we hold meetings with various industries and organizations, particularly within the defence sector, to discuss and exchange ideas on ongoing and future collaborations." The Chancellor of Amirkabir University of Technology emphasized that the university's previous collaborations with Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters will continue, and he paid tribute to the late Sardar Ghasemi, recalling: "I remember when Sardar Ghasemi was leading Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters, he visited this very building for the first time, and at that time, we signed 13 cooperation agreements." He also stated that collaborations between the university and various organizations have a long-standing history, adding: "The draft memorandum of understanding with Khatam al-Anbia Headquarters includes valuable collaboration topics that will be pursued in the near future."
