Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

The primary mandate of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs is to oversee the academic activities undertaken by colleges affiliated with the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, collecting their comments and suggestions and transferring these comments to the ministry of science, research and technology. This office is responsible for the planning, execution, and assessment of academic programs so that students are prepared to pursue their chosen paths in life and to be productive and contributing members of their communities.
The office is also responsible for proposing curricula and examination schedule. Supervise the MSc and PhD entrance exams. The other responsibilities of the office include:
  • developing study plans and programs
  • proposing new academic programs and specializations and applying for their accreditation
  • The delivery of all academic programs and specializations
  • academic research especially in relation to setting guidelines and strategies
  • Providing and setting up university’s academic strategies, visions and missions, and following up on their ratification, announcement, implementation, and updating processes;
  • Compilation of the general principles of educational programs and presenting and supervising the strategies of educational policies to the board of the university;
  • Planning the educational and graduate affairs in cooperation with the relevant units, supervising the performance of subordinate units, and implementing and evaluating the programs and educational activities of each department and presenting the necessary report to the Board of Directors;
  • Preparing and proposing the short-term, mid-term and long-term educational goals of the university in cooperation with all departments, relevant centers and units, and continuous pursuit and guidance of affairs related to their approval, implementation and improvement;
  • Continuously reviewing and monitoring the university's educational situation, and evaluating the educational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats;
  • Evaluating  and commenting on launching new approved or non-approved academic disciplines and training groups, as well as new required graduate courses in the university;
  • Monitoring and evaluating the educational performance of students, faculty members and educational managers of different units in each semester, reporting them to the president and announcing the results of the evaluation to the faculty members;
  • Supervising the implementation of regulations and educational rules through the Academic Tenure and Promotions Office;
  • Investigating the offers of educational groups to change or develop educational programs and preparing reports to be presented at the university council;
  • Evaluating and approving  scientific qualifications of academic tenure applicants, which should be referred to the council by the head of the department after confirmation of the relevant study group;
  • Cooperation with other deputies to participate in the university projects excellently;
  • Determining the duties of the staff, supervising the proper conduct of activities, and performing related personnel activities;
  • Preparing and proposing the necessary reports, and executing the tasks delegated.
