According to the public relations report of Amirkabir University of Technology, Dr. Somayeh Akbari, during the ceremony honoring and introducing the Director of Scientific and International Cooperation, while stating this and referring to utilizing the capacity and experiences of managers and experienced professors in the international field, announced plans to form an "International Think Tank" at this university.
She stated that in recent times, the experiences and perspectives of the university's former international officials have been utilized, adding: "Although the presence of the former Vice President for International Affairs was less during this period, they did everything within their power, and we will certainly benefit from their connections, experiences, and programs in the future. Not using these capacities would be an injustice to the Polytechnic."
The Vice President for International Affairs at Amirkabir University of Technology added: "Our plan is to form a coherent think tank with the participation of professors and activists in the international field."
Akbari continued: "This think tank will operate through specialized working groups as well as country-specific and regional working groups so that we can purposefully advance the university's international programs through brainstorming and synergy."
Referring to the role of other members of the international team at Amirkabir University of Technology, she said: "Dr. Taghikhani, a member of this team, has entered the work with seriousness from the beginning and, with their valuable experience, follows up on matters well. We also benefit from the presence of Dr. Rahimi and their valuable experiences in international affairs, especially in financial and administrative sections, and this cooperation will continue in the future."
The Vice President for International Affairs at Amirkabir University of Technology emphasized: "The goal for all of us is work and advancing the university's affairs, and we hope that with the empathy and cooperation of the team members, we can take effective actions in the international field of the university."
The former Director of the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation at Amirkabir University of Technology, in this ceremony, emphasizing the necessity of "internationalization" of universities, stated: "Real internationalization requires fundamental changes in policies and transformation in the university's macro approaches, and without these changes, expecting effective output is not possible."
Bagherzadeh, while stating this in remarks and referring to the difference in conditions in recent years compared to past decades, expressed: "In a period when the country's international environment was more open, foreign interactions became more feasible, suitable opportunities for developing scientific cooperation were created, but in subsequent years, conditions became much more difficult, and any planning for international actions faced numerous obstacles."
Referring to managerial changes and the unstable decision-making environment in some periods, he stated: "The unfortunate events in recent years and changes in governments, ministers, and university managers made long-term planning difficult, and this very issue affected the process of the university's international activities. Although efforts were made to create a transformation in the level of the university's international activities with all the conditions, and with the efforts of colleagues, suitable activi
ties were planned and implemented in these years."
Bagherzadeh also pointed out the self-sufficiency of the Vice Presidency for International Affairs, noting that during the two years and four months of his tenure in the Vice Presidency for International Affairs of the university, efforts were made so that the specific income of the university's Vice Presidency for International Affairs, with an approximate growth of 500 times, could provide the necessary capacities for the university's international cooperation in sub-sections of International Cooperation Management, International Language Center, International Student Affairs Management, and Kish International Campus and satellite units.
The former Director of the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation, also referring to the country's and universities' conditions, stated that strategies focusing on Southeast Asian, Central Asian, and neighboring countries were cited as achievable priorities over the past two years, although suitable activities with European countries were also initiated. There were also very effective programs in international research activities in the Vice Presidency's agenda, especially a very effective experience planned and implemented over the past two years with Iranians abroad.
Bagherzadeh, stating that his tenure on the board of directors of Amirkabir University of Technology is considered a valuable experience, emphasized: "Being in a specialized gathering and cooperating with the members of the board of directors of Amirkabir University of Technology was a very precious experience for me and provided an opportunity to become more deeply acquainted with the challenges and issues of the university."
At the end, he expressed gratitude to all respected colleagues of the Vice Presidency for International Affairs of the university for their effective and sincere cooperation during his tenure and wished success and increasing prosperity for Dr. Akbari and Dr. Taghikhani.
Dr. Toraj Taghikhani, Director of Scientific and International Cooperation of the University, in this ceremony, while thanking and appreciating the efforts of Dr. Bagherzadeh, said: "During the previous management period, the focus was on scientific and international cooperation with Arab countries, including Iraq. In the former management period as well, scientific and international cooperation with a focus on European countries was pursued."
He, while appreciating the efforts made, emphasized: "In this period, I will try, while maintaining and expanding relations with Arab and European countries, to seriously pursue relations with East Asian countries as well."
