The presidents of the UT5 consortium—comprising Iran’s five leading industrial universities—convened at the Iran University of Science and Technology on June 11, 2026. The meeting aimed to enhance national research synergy and solidify the role of these institutions in addressing critical national requirements, with a particular focus on the post-war reconstruction and modernization of industrial sectors.
Two landmark agreements were ratified to optimize infrastructure utilization. The laboratory cooperation pact grants mutual access to specialized facilities, offering a 20 percent discount for research and national initiatives, thereby increasing infrastructure productivity and reducing research expenditures. Additionally, a reciprocal library agreement was formalized, ensuring broader physical and digital access for faculty and students to the collective academic assets of all five member institutions.
During the session, the consortium approved and signed updated bylaws designed to strengthen joint technological cooperation and operational efficiency. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to assessing the country’s industrial needs in the post-war era. The leadership reached a consensus on the essential role industrial universities must play in the rebuilding, upgrading, and revitalizing of damaged industrial sectors, confirming their commitment to national industrial recovery.
The UT5 leadership emphasized that these agreements are a pivotal step toward elevating research quality, increasing national efficiency, and strengthening the standing of Iran’s industrial universities in leading international ranking systems. The meeting concluded with a mandate for the swift and effective implementation of these ratified agreements across all member institutions.
