The Islamic World Science and Technology Monitoring and Citation Center (ISC) has released its 2025 World University Rankings, featuring 76 institutions from Iran among the top 2,749 universities globally. In this ranking, Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) has maintained its position among the country’s top 10 universities, while securing first place nationally in the “Innovation” indicator with a global ranking of 774.
According to the Public Relations Office of Amirkabir University of Technology, the 2025 assessment evaluated 2,749 universities across 115 countries and six continents. Iran’s representation in this list has increased from 72 universities last year to 76 this year, reflecting the upward trajectory of the country’s universities rank in the international arena.
The ISC World University Ranking system, which began in 2018, evaluates the performance of educational institutions based on verified international data rather than self-reported information. It has now become a reputable reference for science policy and strategic institutional development, particularly within Islamic nations.
According to the published results, the top 10 universities in Iran are the University of Tehran, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Iran University of Medical Sciences, Sharif University of Technology, Amirkabir University of Technology, Tarbiat Modares University, Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, and Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
In the Innovation ranking category, AUT demonstrated outstanding performance, achieving a global rank of 774 and standing as the top institution among only five Iranian universities included in this section of the global list. Following AUT were Sharif University of Technology (804), the University of Tehran (1138), Tarbiat Modares University (1143), and Baqiyatallah University of Medical Sciences (1432).
Securing the top position in innovation reflects AUT’s strategic role in technology development, the commercialization of research outcomes, and effective industry collaboration. This achievement is a direct result of the university’s dedicated focus in recent years on research and technological activities, consistent with its trajectory as a “next-generation university.”
