The 13th round of the Chem-E Car competition will be held on February 18th and 19th in collaboration with the Iranian Society of Chemical Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology.
According to the Amirkabir University of Technology’s Public Relations Office, the competition will be held in three sections: Poster, Freestyle League and Performance.
During the first day of the competition, participants must present the various sections of their car system to the jury in the form of a poster. How the poster is designed the poster and presented to the judges will determine the granted scores.
The key element of success for the teams in this section is designing the appropriate system as the driving force with the right efficiency and using an innovative idea to construct it.
During the second day of the competition, the performance of the cars will be monitored and the designed cars must be able to move along the track (a distance of 12 to 20 meters). The exact distance will be announced shortly before the race commences. The cars must also carry a load equal to approximately 20 % to 50 % of the car’s weight. The main parameters in this section is the high accuracy of the braking system and the sufficient and uniform generation of power provided by the propulsion system.
This section of the race is very important and may be considered as the main competition.
The freestyle league of the Chem-E Car competition is a separate section from the previous two sections. The participating teams competing in this division have to compete on the strength of their designed cars, and the team’s car that can carry the heaviest load along the longest distance will be declared as the top team.
The new section of the Chem-E Car is a Separation Race in which teams can compete separately. The first course of the Separation Race was held at the University of Tehran at the same time as the 12th National Chem-E Car Competitions.
This section consists of two divisions which are: Separation and Performance; whereby the teams participating in the separation process must separate the amount of mixed water & alcohol using various techniques.
In the performance division, the participating teams must also design a car that gains its strength through the use of the purified alcohol in the separation process.
