Dr. Gevork B. Gharehpetian, Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT), has been named among the recipients of the Springer Nature Editor of Distinction Awards 2026, presented in recognition of outstanding editorial contributions to scholarly publishing. Dr. Gharehpetian was selected for the award in acknowledgment of his role in advancing the scientific quality of journals, ensuring rigorous peer review, and supporting the research community.
Springer Nature stated that the award honors distinguished editors for their commitment to the development of scholarly journals and their sustained support for researchers. The publisher noted that editorial board members play a vital role in expanding networks of authors and peer reviewers, improving the quality of published research, and contributing to the advancement of scientific discovery.
According to the publisher, the Editorial Contribution Award is presented to editors who have demonstrated excellence in the careful assessment of submitted manuscripts, the professional management of peer review, and the safeguarding of the scientific accuracy and quality of published work.
Dr. Gharehpetian is widely recognized as a leading figure in the field of electrical engineering in Iran. He has published or presented more than 1,500 scientific papers in national and international journals and conferences. His academic record also includes 27 domestic and international patents, 30 authored and translated books, and participation in more than 40 industrial research projects as principal investigator or collaborator. Over the past two decades, he has consistently been ranked among the world’s top 1% most-cited scientists based on the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database.
His other distinctions include the Allameh Tabataba'i Award from Iran’s National Elites Foundation in 2019, recognition as the country’s Distinguished Professor in Electrical Engineering by the Academy of Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 2019, selection as a National Outstanding Researcher in the Technical and Engineering Group by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in 2018, Iran’s Top Researcher by the Iran Energy Association in 2017, recognition as Iran’s Top Researcher by the Iranian Society of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in 2010, and the National Distinguished Professor by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in 2008.
