Amirkabir University of Technology to Unveil the Islamic World Science and Technology Exchange (STEP-AUT) Office

Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) will launch and unveil the Islamic World Science and Technology Exchange Office (STEP-AUT Office), aimed at strengthening scientific and technological engagement with universities, research centers, and researchers across the Islamic world.
According to the AUT Public Relations Office, the establishment of the STEP-AUT Office builds on the university’s ongoing cooperation with the Mustafa (PBUH) Science and Technology Foundation and is part of efforts to develop and sustain the scientific and international ties established through the Science and Technology Exchange Program (STEP) in Islamic countries.
The office will work to strengthen networks among academics, researchers, and scientific institutions across Islamic countries; facilitate the exchange of knowledge and technology; support the formation and development of joint scientific and technological projects; and provide a sustainable platform for leveraging the scientific capacities of the Islamic world.
The 10th STEP meeting, held at Amirkabir University of Technology, was one of the events held during Mustafa (PBUH) Prize Week and provided an opportunity to expand scientific ties between the university’s professors and researchers and leading scholars from across the Islamic world. Nine previous editions of STEP had been held at leading universities in Iran, Malaysia, Oman, and Pakistan.
During the event, more than 80 distinguished international professors participated, 20 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were signed, and nine joint research clusters were established with the participation of researchers and faculty members from Iran and abroad.
These research clusters are currently working to develop sustainable scientific ties, define joint research projects, and expand technological cooperation between Amirkabir University of Technology and scientific and academic institutions in various countries across the Islamic world.
The establishment of the STEP-AUT Office is intended to coordinate and strengthen these capacities and transform the relationships already established into sustainable, targeted cooperation based on joint projects.
Expanding international scientific and technological cooperation and advancing science diplomacy are among the priorities emphasized in the country’s higher education and science and technology policies and programs. In this context, the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, as the policymaking body responsible for guiding the development of international scientific and academic cooperation, plays an important role in supporting university initiatives and strengthening Iran’s scientific engagement with other countries, particularly those in the region and the broader Islamic world.
The unveiling ceremony of the Islamic World Science and Technology Exchange Office (STEP-AUT Office) will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Farabi Building of Amirkabir University of Technology.
