Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT), in collaboration with the AUT Science and Technology Park, is hosting PolyhaQ, Iran's first national quantum hackathon.
According to the AUT Public Relations Office, the event has been designed to provide a competitive and specialized platform for identifying and addressing scientific and technological challenges in quantum computing and quantum information—areas currently being investigated and developed by scientific and research institutions across the country.
More than 850 quantum technology enthusiasts and professionals have taken part in the registration and training process for the first edition of the event. The PolyhaQ training program has included ten educational sessions and four scientific seminars featuring prominent professors and researchers from Iran and abroad. The sessions have covered a range of topics in quantum computing, quantum algorithms, and quantum machine learning.
Following the training program, a number of participants advanced to the main hackathon competition through a selection and evaluation process. The main stage of the competition will be held on September 5–6, 2026, at the AUT Science and Technology Park, where the qualifying teams will work to solve specialized challenges in quantum science and technology.
One of the defining features of PolyhaQ is its integration of education, scientific competition, and technology development. In addition to benefiting from the training program and interacting with professors and researchers, participants will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to real-world problems and specialized challenges.
In addition to cash prizes, the top-performing teams will receive support for registering companies in the field of quantum technologies. Provided under the auspices of the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, this support is intended to help selected ideas move from the conceptual and prototype stages toward technology development and commercialization.
The first edition of the PolyhaQ National Quantum Hackathon is supported and sponsored by the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, the National Informatics Corporation, Shaparak, the AUT Science and Technology Park, and the Simorgh National Supercomputer Center.
The event aims to strengthen connections among academia, industry, and the innovation ecosystem and contribute to the development of quantum education, research, and technology in Iran.
