Dr. Negar Ashari Astani, Chair of the “PolyhaQ” Quantum Hackathon, announced that 70 participants out of approximately 800 entrants have advanced to the final stage of the event.According to the Public Relations Office of Amirkabir University of Technology, Dr. Ashari Astani described “PolyhaQ” as the country’s first quantum hackathon, which began in December and featured six to seven months of online training courses conducted by professors active in the field of quantum technology. Following the training courses and specialized assessments, the top 70 participants advanced to the final stage.In the final stage, the participants will compete in 10 teams over 18 hours, working on 10 challenges designed by the professors who conducted the training courses. The main themes of the event are quantum machine learning and quantum simulation, and the teams will be evaluated in three areas: coding, presentation, and teamwork.Dr. Ashari Astani also announced that brainstorming sessions will be held among the professors who designed the challenges, adding that the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy has expressed readiness to support projects resulting from these sessions.The event is supported by the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, the Optics and Quantum Technologies Development Council, Amirkabir University of Technology Science and Technology Park, National Informatics Company, SHAPARAK, and Simorgh Computer Company.She further identified bringing together and fostering interaction among professionals and researchers in quantum technology from different universities, provinces, age groups, and academic levels as another objective of the event, adding that “PolyhaQ” is planned to be held annually.
