A meeting of the secretaries of theatre associations at universities across the country was held both in person and online at Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT), with the participation of Dr. Saman Rahmani, Deputy Director General for Cultural Affairs at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, and theatre artist Farzin Mohaddes. Dr. Rahmani expressed his appreciation for AUT’s hospitality and responded to questions raised by the secretaries of university theatre associations.
Salman Askarizadeh, Director of Cultural Affairs at AUT, highlighted the university’s student-centred approach to cultural activities and emphasized efforts to bridge the gap between engineering students and the world of art. Reflecting on the past year, he said that he had sought to move away from approaches focused solely on programmes and allow students’ ideas and genuine needs to shape the university’s cultural activities. He highlighted monthly film screenings featuring members of production teams and Q&A sessions, poetry evenings with prominent literary figures, folk music performances, discussion-based content, puppet programmes, and three major theatre productions, all of which received positive responses from students. He added that the presence of talented and creative students in the Cultural Affairs management team had been a key strength over the past year. Mr. Askarizadeh expressed hope that the meeting would yield positive outcomes and emphasized that drawing on the experiences of colleagues and fellow participants could contribute to further advancing student cultural activities.
