The first Student Science and Skills Competition, organized by the International Students' Scientific Association of Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT), was held with the participation of middle and high school students competing in three categories: spaghetti bridge construction, Rubik’s Cube solving, and chess.
According to AUT’s Public Relations Office, the competition featured three events: spaghetti bridge construction, Rubik’s Cube solving, and chess, bringing together students from both lower and upper secondary school levels.
In the spaghetti bridge construction category, 15 teams of three to four members participated. The strength of the designed structures was evaluated by applying weights to determine their load-bearing capacity. The assessment criterion was the ratio of the supported load to the weight of the structure. At the end of the competition, Alzahra School secured first and second place, while Saei Institute ranked third.
The Rubik’s Cube competition consisted of five rounds. Each participant completed five solves. The fastest and slowest recorded times were excluded, and the average of the remaining three times was calculated as the final result. Based on these results, Roya Gholami, Hannaneh Vafaei, and Ali Akbar Hosseini secured first, second, and third place, respectively, with times of 18, 51, and 53 seconds.
In the chess category, 10 participants competed in a six-round tournament using the Swiss System. Following the sixth round, the final standings were determined based on the total points earned. Amirhossein Imani, Hekmatollah Hosseini, and Yasin Rezaei took first, second, and third place, respectively. The competition was officiated by Reza Ebrahimi, a PhD student in Physics at Amirkabir University of Technology.
The competition was organized by the International Students' Scientific Association of Amirkabir University of Technology, in cooperation with the university’s Office of International Affairs, the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Saei Institute.
