The practical part of the General Chemistry course is presented in this laboratory for undergraduate students (technical and engineering fields related to chemistry). The lesson is one of the main units of the course. By taking this lab the students will gain the following knowledge and skills:

  • Familiarity with the laboratory environment, Warnings about chemicals, Important safety principles, First aid, Description of tasks in the laboratory
  • Familiarity with glassware and laboratory equipment and their proper use
  • Familiarity with mechanical and electrical scales
  • Understanding the physical and chemical properties of some of the most widely used materials in chemical laboratories
  • How to prepare solutions and get acquainted with their concentration
  • Determination of the concentration of solutions using density
  • Metal equivalent measurement
  • Determination of molecular mass of volatile liquids and gases
  • Measurement of chemical reaction rate
  • And knowledge of chemical equilibrium, spectrophotometry, acid-base titration, oxidation-reduction titration, water hardness measurement and Solubility
