About Roohollah Bagherzadeh

  • Expertise:Advanced Fibrous Materials      Smart Textile Materials      High-Performance Textiles and Clothing        Piezoelectric Energy Harvesting for Wearables        Flexible Triboelectric Sensors and Nanogenerators               Functional Fibrous Materials
  • Academic Degrees : PhD, Textile Science and Engineering

Currently serving as Director of the Institute for Advanced Textiles Materials and Technologies (ATMT), Dr. Bagherzadeh is proud and privileged to lead the Institute’s employees who mentor several graduate students, and upwards of 30 contracts with industry partners and 5 government agencies totaling greater than $1.5 Billion RLS.

Roohollah is a member of Iran's National Elites Foundation, and enjoys serving as the AUT International Ambassator. In addition to mentoring dozens of graduate students and post docs, visiting scholars and 20-plus undergraduate students in research, he has published more than 80 peer reviewed and conference papers in the area of Advanced Fibrous Materials, and Flexible and Stretchable Energy Harvesting Devices. His former students regularly win top honors.

Dr Bagherzadeh is now A/Professor of Advanced Fibrous Materials at Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic). After his graduation in Textile Engineering from AUT in 2006, he joined PP Fiber Co. in Tehran, as a Senior Consultant. After that he jointed again in AUT to continue his higher education in PhD level. Roohollah received his doctoral degree from Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT, in Tehran, Iran) in 2010. Upon graduation in 2010, he moved to Australia to Deakin University, University of Sydney, and Uni. of New South Wales as a Post Doctoral Research Associate and later Visiting Assistant Professor investigating the Nano-Fibrous Materials. In Fall 2012, he returned to AUT as Post Doctoral Research Associate and later Assistant Professor in the Textile Engineering Department. Prof Bagherzadeh now has more than 20 years experiences in education, research, and cooperation with diverse external companies and research institutes. He works broadly in the area of correlating and understanding the nanoscopic and macroscopic properties of fibrous materials, with emphases on those for energy harvesting, textile based sensors, functional textile, and clothing for a diverse range of applications, including developing novel flexible nanogenerators and energy scavenging for self-powered microelectronics, fibrous materials for biomedical applications, and flexible conductive and transparent materials. Dr Bagherzadeh is currently head of the Advanced Fibrous Materials Research LAB (AFM-LAB) in AUT.

Since 2018, Dr Bagherzadeh is appointed as Director of the Institute for Advanced Textiles Materials and Technologies (ATMT) in the Department of Textile Engineering, Amirkabir University of Technology
