The researchers at Amirkabir University of Technology designed an intelligent system for verifying the authenticity of Persian hand-woven carpet
For the first time in the world, the researchers at the Department of Computer Engineering of Amirkabir University of Technology have designed an intelligent system to verify the authenticity of Persian hand-woven carpets or rugs in order to cherish the legacy of this narrator of Iranian art and culture.
According to the public relations of Amirkabir University of Technology, Amirhossein Roshanzamir, an MSc graduate of Information Technology Engineering and Artificial Intelligence at the Department of Computer Engineering, is the founder and CEO of Chamrosh Startup. He said: “Our goal in this team is to use digital technologies including the internet of things (IoT), blockchain and image processing, to store, reinforce and verify the authenticity of Persian hand-woven carpets or rugs.”
He added: " We have seen that the design of Persian rugs are being copied in countries such as Pakistan, India, Nepal, and even China and sold under the title of Persian Rugs.” He continued: “Chamrosh harnesses the internet of things (IoT), blockchain, and image processing to reinforce provenance in the narrative of a handwoven carpet. The innovative integration of these digital technologies empowers us to spot and combat the menace of counterfeit carpets which are not woven in Persian land.”
He also indicated: More than 30 local and international academics, researchers, and experts are contributing to this innovative and national project.
The founder and CEO of Chamrosh Startup enumerated six benefits for this intelligent system: proving the origin of weaving by the internet of things (IoT), verifying the authenticity by digital fingerprint, creating customer loyalty by a mobile application,  claiming the ownership by blockchain, reinforcing uniqueness and scarcity by image processing, and increasing the intrinsic value of the carpet by creating trust and generating a story and heritage.
It is worth mentioning that Dr. Mohammad Rahmati, Dr. Mehdi Shajari, Amirhossein Roshanzamir, and Soroush Ziainejad are the researchers of this project at the Department of Computer Engineering of Amirkabir University of Technology.
