Course Description:
This course strengthens the English background of the students who would like to pursue their academic and professional careers in the biomedical engineering field.
 
Course Goals and Objectives:
The objectives of the course are as follows:
1) To familiarize them with medical terminology
2) To improve the students’ skills in writing, listening, presentation, and comprehension of various contents in biomedical engineering

  • Grammatical review: tenses, active and passive
  • Grammatical review: auxiliary verbs, nouns, adjectives, and adverbs
  • Review of Latin roots in medical terminology: prefixes
  • Review of Latin roots in medical terminology: suffixes
  • Selected topics in bioelectric

  • Selected topics in biomaterials
  • Review of writing rules

The course aims to:
The learning outcomes of the course are as follows:
1) The ability to identify and translate key medical terms
2) The ability to comprehend biomedical engineering contents 
3) The ability to write and present short technical reports

Evaluation
Participants’ progress is monitored and evaluated throughout the course by listening, writing, translation, and presentation assignments, as well as midterm and final exams.
