- Introducing research method and remote sensing process, definition of platform and introduction of its types and sensors and their types, sensors specifications, brief description of satellites, definition of Geosynchronous orbit and Sun-synchronous orbit.
- Data collection, introductions of remote sensing data, the importance of measurement and terrestrial and field observations in combination with remote sensing data, and the introduction of factors influencing the selection of remote sensing data.
- Electromagnetic energy, introduction of the most important known waves, electromagnetic waves used in remote sensing, properties of visible, infrared and microwave bands, the effect of atmosphere on electromagnetic energy.
- Introduction of spectral ranges, optical remote sensing, thermal remote sensing, microwave remote sensing.
- Active and passive microwave sensors, active microwave sensors (non-imaging and imaging sensors), spectral properties (vegetation cover, water, soil and minerals).
- Image, photograph, pixel and satellite images, spatial resolution, spectral resolution, radiometric resolution and temporal resolution.
- Introducing remote sensing satellites and providing information about each of them (NOAA, Landsat, Quickbird, SPOT, ASTER and ...)
- Interpretation and processing of satellite information, Visual interpretation of information, Digital interpretation of information, Errors of satellite data and methods of correcting them.

- Familiarity with ENVI software, how to receive information and data and also introduction of software menus .
- Familiarity with how to receive satellite images of the study area in order to apply different processing methods.
- Preparing satellite images and applying preprocessing methods in ENVI software, in order to prepare satellite images to employ image processing methods.
- Introduction and training of some image processing methods (band ratio method, False color composite image method, PCA and ...).
- Employing the introduced processing methods in the previous sessions, in ENVI software for image processing.
