A System to Increase Road Safety with Image Processing
Researchers at the department of Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering of Amirkabir University of Technology have provided a system for evaluating the drainage quality of asphalt, based on the technology of image processing, which they said could be effective in improving road safety. Behrooz Mataei, Dr. Fereydon Moghaddasnejad and Hamzeh Zakeri the researchers of this project have been able to patent this idea under the name of "Pavement Drainage Evaluation System" in the US patent office.

Synthesis of Nanofibers for Use in Wound Dressing
AUT researchers in collaboration with researchers from the University of Minnesota, have been successful in producing antimicrobial nanofibers for wound dressing using cotton waste. According to AUT’s PR: Ahmad Heevehchi, a Ph.D. student of Textile Engineering at AUT and the project manager, said: "Turkmen Sahara has been a hub of cotton cultivation in the old days; but nowadays due to incorrect policies, the tendency to cultivate this product in the Golestan state has declined.
