Dr Mojtaba Sedighi and Dr Elaheh Kosari, faculty members of Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT), have been selected and honored as National Exemplary Professors.According to the AUT Public Relations Office, Dr Mojtaba Sedighi, Full Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at AUT and one of the country’s highly cited researchers, was selected for this distinction in recognition of his extensive academic achievements. His record includes more than 200 scientific publications, five registered patents, and the authorship of four specialized books, making him one of the prominent figures in the field of mechanical engineering and higher education.Dr Sedighi, a Full Professor (Level 54) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at AUT, received his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. Since 2021, he has been listed among the top two percent of scientists worldwide.He has published 206 scholarly articles in domestic and international journals, as well as 161 papers presented at national and international scientific conferences. His academic record also includes the completion of five research projects, four of which were carried out under industrial contracts.Dr Sedighi has authored four specialized books titled Introduction to Plate and Shell Theory, Composite Structures (Mechanics of Materials and Design), Bird Strike (in English), and Practical Guide to LS Dyna Software.Among his educational contributions, he has supervised 90 master’s theses and 16 doctoral dissertations. His Google Scholar H index is 47, and his publications have received 7,793 citations.In the area of innovation and technology, Dr Sedighi has five registered patents. Alongside his academic activities, he has also held numerous leadership positions in higher education administration.His previous roles include Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Amirkabir University of Technology, Director General of Scholarships and Overseas Students at the Ministry of Science, Director General of the Office of Scientific and International Cooperation, Vice Chancellor for Administrative and Financial Affairs at AUT, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at the Ministry of Science, Deputy for Cultural, Educational and Research Affairs at the Management and Planning Organization of Iran, and Deputy Minister of Science and Head of the Organization of Student Affairs from 2013 to 2021.He currently serves as Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology.His other academic and executive credentials include previous membership on the Boards of Trustees of Amirkabir University of Technology, Sahand University of Technology, Tabriz Islamic Art University, and Kharazmi University; current service as both chair and member of the permanent commissions of the Boards of Trustees of several Iranian universities; and membership on the Board of Directors of the Iranian Society of Mechanical Engineers for four terms.
Dr Elaheh Kosari, Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT), has been selected as a National Exemplary Professor in recognition of her distinguished academic achievements, including more than 400 international scientific publications, 10 registered patents, and the supervision of over 136 postgraduate students.Dr Kosari joined the AUT faculty in 2009. She received her PhD in Chemistry from Tarbiat Modares University in 2008 and has since built a distinguished record of accomplishments in education, research, and academic service.During her academic career, she has held several administrative and academic positions. These include Vice chancellor for Research in the Department of Chemistry and membership in the Scientific Committee of Amirkabir University of Technology Press between 2010 and 2019. She has also served as a member of the University Promotion and Tenure Committee and has participated in specialized committees responsible for the promotion of faculty members.Dr Kosari currently serves as editor for two internationally recognized journals published by Springer and plays an active role in the scientific committees, review panels, and editorial boards of numerous international journals. She has also established extensive research collaborations with leading universities and higher‑education institutions in several countries.Her academic portfolio includes more than 400 internationally published scholarly works, comprising research articles, review papers, conference presentations at international scientific meetings, invited book chapters, authored books, and contributions to specialized encyclopedias.Among her research achievements are 10 registered patents and participation in several industrial research projects. In addition, she has supervised and mentored more than 136 master’s and doctoral students.These accomplishments have led to her receiving the title of Outstanding Researcher on multiple occasions, along with several national research awards.Dr Kosari’s primary research areas include ionic liquids, graphene, graphene oxide, and sustainable nanomaterials, particularly for applications in supercapacitors, renewable energy storage batteries, and environmentally related technologies. Her research also focuses on the development of alternative power generation systems and the application of nanomaterials in energy technologies.In recent years, Dr Kosari has initiated extensive research on the application of artificial intelligence in energy studies and technologies, and the outcomes of this work have been published in numerous scientific papers.
Dr Mojtaba Sedighi and Dr Elaheh Kosari were honored as National Exemplary Professors during the 33rd National Ceremony Honoring Exemplary Faculty Members, held on June 13, 2026, at Iran University of Science and Technology. The ceremony was attended by Dr Fatemeh Mohajerani, Government Spokesperson, and Dr Hossein Simaei Sarraf, Minister of Science, Research and Technology.
