The Academy of Sciences of the Islamic Republic of Iran has recognized Dr. Mohammad Mohammadi Aghdam, a professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Amirkabir University of Technology, as a Distinguished Scholar in Mechanical Engineering for his over 30 years of scientific and research contributions at the forefront of global knowledge.
According to the Public Relations Office of the Amirkabir University of Technology, a ceremony honoring Dr. Mohammadi Aghdam was held by the Academy of Sciences on Engineer’s Day in recognition of his outstanding academic and scientific achievements.
Dr. Mohammadi Aghdam was born in Tehran in 1343 and has been a full-time faculty member at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Amirkabir University of Technology, since 1370.
He obtained his bachelor's degree from Sharif University of Technology, his master’s degree from Amirkabir University of Technology, and his PhD from the University of Bristol, UK.
Dr. Mohammadi Aghdam has published over 210 articles in leading international journals, presented more than 110 papers at national and international conferences, and delivered three keynote speeches at prestigious international conferences.
He is also the author of the book Mechanical Structures: Beams, Plates, and Shells, which was recognized as the Book of the Season of the Islamic Republic of Iran in 1386.
Dr. Mohammadi Aghdam has supervised more than 13 PhD dissertations, 67 master's theses, and 35 undergraduate theses, contributing significantly to the academic and scientific community of Iran.
As a faculty member at Amirkabir University of Technology, he has held several key administrative positions, including Deputy of Research, Examination, and Educational Evaluation at the National Organization for Educational Testing, Vice Dean for Education at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology, and Director General of International Affairs at Amirkabir University of Technology.
He has also served as the Secretary of the National Student Olympiads, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Director General of Research Affairs at Amirkabir University of Technology.
In addition to his distinguished research and executive roles, Dr. Mohammadi Aghdam has been highly active in training mechanical engineers in Iran. He has taught various fundamental and specialized courses, including Statics, Strength of Materials, Mechanics of Composite Materials, Finite Element Theory, and Advanced Numerical Analysis.
Dr. Mohammad Mohammadi Aghdam was recognized as an Outstanding Author by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance in 1386, Top Researcher of Amirkabir University of Technology in 1395 and 1397, and Top PhD Supervisor at Amirkabir University of Technology in 1396 and 1400.
Since 2017, Dr. Mohammadi Aghdam has been listed by Clarivate Analytics as a highly cited international researcher (top 1%). Additionally, his name appears on the Stanford University list of top global scientists, representing the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is a source of pride for the Iranian scientific community.
