The Director of International Student Affairs at Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) has announced the redesign and integration of the international student admissions process. Dr. Siamak Epackchi noted that the admission letter has been overhauled and a 16-step bilingual guide in Persian and English has been developed, which will be provided to students together with the admission letter. Changes are also underway to the admission and Adab systems, and an integrated system for managing these processes will be introduced in the near future. The measures are intended to facilitate and streamline admissions, reduce the number of stages and intermediaries, and improve transparency in financial matters.
Dr. Epackchi also highlighted the expansion of cooperation with reputable international universities to attract qualified international students and implement student exchange programs and academic and educational collaboration. These collaborations began in Iraq with the Islamic University of Najaf Al-Ashraf and Al-Farahidi University, while engagement with universities in Malaysia and other friendly and neighboring countries is also being considered. In addition, an agreement has been concluded with the Islamic University of Najaf Al-Ashraf to offer a joint master’s degree program, under which part of the educational activities will be conducted at the partner university, while the research component and thesis will be carried out at AUT.
Other measures include the preparation of a comprehensive statistical report on international students from 1393 to 1404 (Solar Hijri; approximately 2014–2026), categorized by faculty, academic year, and financial matters, which has been submitted to the University Executive Board; efforts to improve student accommodation, including pursuing the provision of buildings for self-managed accommodation at reasonable costs; and following up on visa and student permit issues with the Student Affairs Organization. Efforts are also being made to formalize the Language Center’s status as an official university unit and to lay the groundwork for establishing a smart language center. In addition to meeting the university’s needs, the center can also contribute to introducing and strengthening the university’s brand. Dr. Epackchi also emphasized the importance of maintaining the university’s academic standards in the admission of international students and providing them with improved services.
