Researchers at Amirkabir University of Technology have successfully concluded research that contributes to a more precise investigation of the electromagnetic susceptibility of practical power amplifiers in telecommunication equipment.
According to the public relations report of Amirkabir University of Technology, Hamed Daneshvar, a PhD graduate of Amirkabir University of Technology and the executor of the project "Modeling and Analysis of the Electromagnetic Susceptibility of a Discrete Transistor Power Amplifier in a Perforated Shield Enclosure," stated that the power amplifier is a main component of any telecommunication device. He added that the electromagnetic susceptibility of this amplifier is one of the important issues in the performance of such equipment.
He noted that the studies conducted in this field do not simultaneously analyze the performance of the entire amplifier circuit when exposed to adjacent electric fields. In this research, the performance of the entire power amplifier circuit under electric field radiation within a perforated shield enclosure was analyzed using a full-wave method.
According to the Amirkabir University of Technology researcher, to conduct this research, first a power amplifier with the desired specifications was designed, and then this amplifier was placed inside a perforated shield enclosure to reduce the effects of adjacent radiating fields.
He continued: Subsequently, by exposing this enclosure to radiation, the susceptibility of the power amplifier's performance was analyzed.
The Amirkabir University of Technology graduate stated: Using the results and method presented in this research, the electromagnetic susceptibility of various
telecommunication equipment such as mobile phones and communication satellites can be examined with greater accuracy.
Daneshvar mentioned: So far, two articles have been published from the results of this research, focusing mainly on the analysis of the electromagnetic susceptibility of the amplifier by generalizing the Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) numerical method.
He added: To continue this research, by providing the transistor used in the design of the desired power amplifier and fabricating this amplifier, the results obtained from this research can be validated against measurement results.
Referring to the features of this research, he said: Higher accuracy in analyzing the electromagnetic susceptibility of the power amplifier compared to other methods and software analyses, as well as reducing the electromagnetic susceptibility of practical power amplifiers in various telecommunication equipment with the help of a perforated shield enclosure, are among the features of this research.
It should be noted that the supervisors of this project were Dr. Ahmad Tavakoli and Dr. Parisa Dehkhoda, faculty members of the Electrical Engineering Faculty of Amirkabir University of Technology.
