Three students from the Energy Engineering Scientific Association at Amirkabir University of Technology represented Iran's youth delegation at the Eighth BRICS Youth Energy Summit 2026, showcasing the university's scientific capabilities on the international stage.
According to Amirkabir University of Technology's Public Relations Office, the Eighth BRICS Youth Energy Summit was hosted virtually by India under the theme "Energy for All" on 17 August 2026 (26 Mordad 1405). At this specialized event, which brought together BRICS member states, the Islamic Republic of Iran was represented by four young experts on behalf of the Center for Youth Diplomacy and the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization (SATBA).
The participation of three representatives from Amirkabir University of Technology demonstrated the university's commitment to international engagement. Mahan Ahmadi Rahmatabadi (M.Sc. student in Energy Engineering), Ermia Rakhshani (M.Sc. student in Energy Economics), and Gisoo Kouhbor (B.Sc. student in Energy Engineering) — all active members of the university's Energy Engineering Scientific Association and the Energy Committee of the Center for Youth Diplomacy — presented the perspectives and scientific capabilities of Iranian students at this international forum.
The summit's agenda this year centered on three key themes: energy security and sustainability, energy access and equity, and technology and innovation. Iran's young representatives, and particularly the Amirkabir University of Technology students, actively participated in specialized panels covering energy mix diversification, supply chain resilience, renewable energy development, the role of hydrogen and emerging technologies, as well as the digitalization of power grids and the application of artificial intelligence in the energy sector, sharing their expert perspectives with international counterparts.
The participation of Amirkabir University of Technology's Energy Engineering Scientific Association students in this summit reflects a successful connection between "the university as a hub of knowledge production" and "energy diplomacy as an instrument of national soft power." This purposeful engagement has helped build a network of young Iranian specialists connected with experts from BRICS member countries — including China, India, Russia, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates, among others — laying the groundwork for future specialized collaboration, joint research projects, and technology transfer.
The students' participation took place within the framework of cooperation between the Center for Youth Diplomacy and SATBA, underscoring the readiness of Amirkabir University of Technology's scientific associations to engage in major international energy forums.
