Textile industry effluent is one of the most contaminated industrial wastewaters, which usually contains a great number of dyes and chemicals. The presence of such substances in water will not only pollute the environment but also change the living ecosystem of the earth.

Bahareh Mossayebzadeh, student of Colour and Textile Chemistry in master degree and project executor of “continuous wastewater treatment by nanotechnology-based textiles” said: "This project is designed to provide a high performance and efficient method in wastewater treatment of color and textile industry."

She said a laboratory reactor was designed to decolour the wastewater in the moment of passing by nanofibers and mentioned: "we use TiO2 nanoparticles to produce these fibers which are very effective for destruction of wastewater." Mosayyebzadeh stated that they have used ultraviolet radiation to activate TiO2 nanoparticles to destroy pollutants, and said:  “by increasing the rate of pollutant destruction, the energy consumption would drop."

It's worth noting that this project has been done in the line with the Master’s degree thesis in Textile engineering major and under the supervision of Dr. Mohammad Amani Tehran and the consulting of Dr. Farnaz Memariyan.
