Seyed Abbas Nurian Najafabadi, PhD Graduate of Textile Industries talked about his project “completion of cellulosic wound dressing by synthesis of metal-peptide porous nanostructures to be used for drug release” and said: this study has been conducted for 2 years under supervision of Dr. Hemati Nejad (professor of Amirkabir University of Technology) and Professor Jorge Navarro (from Granada University, Spain).
When the drug is placed in the porous structure of the metal-organic frame, a controlled release of the drug takes place and this wound dressing can be used for a longer time. Accordingly, nitric acid gas (a gas with antimicrobial properties) and fluorouracil (anti skin cancer) can be used to produce a wound dressing with antimicrobial or anti-cancer pad properties.
He declared that three ISI articles have been extracted from this study and explained: using drug delivering materials for controlled release of drug on wound and cancer cell attracts attention of health and medicine industry researchers and supporting further studies on use of animal tests with diverse cancer cells can lead to preparing semi-industrial specimens for mass production.
