Course Description -

 Course Goals and Objectives

In this lesson, the student is introduced to the application of medical engineering systems in rehabilitation. This is based on the knowledge of pathology physiology and the study of sensory and motor injuries that are performed with the help of medical engineering systems.

Course Topics

1- Defining the rehabilitation, its types and introducing the rehabilitation team
2. Introduction to mechanical properties and behavior of body parts: bone, muscle, tendon, .....
3. Kinesiology of limbs (Comparison of human body with robots)
4- Gait analysis and evaluation of motor problems through motion analysis (introduction of EMG, force platform and motion analysis system)
Introduction to the nervous system (from a linear control perspective)
6. Diseases of the nervous system
7- Performance of the rehabilitation team (occupational therapy-physical therapy-speech-therapy-hearing-psychologist or social worker)
8- Examine the structure and function of orthoses and prostheses in rehabilitation (including auditory, visual and motor systems)
9- Electrical stimulation and its application in rehabilitation
10. Rehabilitation of motor activities, physical medicine and exercise therapy
11- Body movement tools including wheelchairs
12. Mechanics of treatment of spinal cord lesions
13- The role of medical engineering in rehabilitation
14- Functional electrical stimulation and its role in motor rehabilitation and reduction of patient's problems
15- Evaluation of Biofeedback, Neurofeedback and Virtual Reality in the Treatment of Patient Problems
16. Electrical stimulation of the brain and neurotherapy
