Chromatography is the process by which a mixture is separated into its components. All chromatographic devices have a stationary phase and a moving phase. The mobile phase carries the mixed components through the stationary phase, and due to the different distribution of the mixed components in the mobile phase, separation occurs when they pass through the stationary phase.
