Amirkabir University of Technology

A professor from Amirkabir University of Technology has been honored as a distinguished professor at the Academy of Sciences' Engineering Day and Khajeh Nasir al-Din Tusi Commemoration ceremony.

Dr. Naser Mohammadi, professor at the Faculty of Polymer Engineering and Color Science at Amirkabir University of Technology, was recognized in the 21st Distinguished Engineers Selection and the 13th Distinguished Professors and Young Researchers Selection ceremony.

Born in 1957, Dr. Mohammadi is a Professor at Amirkabir University of Technology. He completed both his bachelor's and master's degrees at Amirkabir University of Technology before earning his Ph.D. from Lehigh University in the United States. His academic journey also includes four years as a researcher at the Jihad Construction Engineering Research Center and an 18-month postdoctoral fellowship focusing on polymer adhesion at Lehigh University.

Throughout his three-decade teaching career, Dr. Mohammadi has instructed courses in polymer physics chemistry at the undergraduate level, advanced polymer physics chemistry at the graduate level, and thermodynamics of polymer solutions at the doctoral level. He has held numerous leadership positions, including serving as a member of the Polymer Engineering Curriculum Planning Group at the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology for 30 years since 1994, and heading this group for six years. At Amirkabir University of Technology, he has been a member of the Faculty Recruitment Council for five years and the Promotions Committee for four years. His administrative roles further include serving as Dean of the Faculty of Polymer Engineering and Color Science for a decade, Director of Graduate Studies at the same faculty for six years, and Head of the Polymer Industries Educational Group for ten years.

Dr. Mohammadi's current industrial research projects focus on polymer adhesion and welding, polymer recycling, hybrid systems design, porous polymers including fibers, membranes and foams, and the development of nanopolymer additives for the plastics industry.

He has also made significant contributions to Persian academic literature, having authored "Polymer Physics Chemistry" published by Amirkabir University of Technology Press in 2008, with two additional books—"Advanced Polymer Physics Chemistry" and "Thermodynamics of Polymer Solutions"—currently under review for publication. His extensive research output includes 90 papers in reputable scientific journals and 130 presentations at specialized conferences. Among his many accolades, he received third place for applied research at the Khwarizmi Festival in 1995 and, as part of the Jihad Construction Engineering Research Center team, earned first place at the Khwarizmi Festival in the 1980s.

Dr. Mohammadi has organized specialized training courses covering Gel Permeation Chromatography, adhesion and adhesive design, structure-property relationships in polymers, rheology and viscoelasticity of polymers, as well as fatigue, erosion and tire tread design. Throughout his distinguished career, he has supervised 25 doctoral students and 100 master's students at Amirkabir University of Technology.
