The Chancellor of Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) has emphasized the need for a coherent strategic roadmap to expand the university’s international footprint. He stated that structuring, policy-making, and designing educational programs tailored to the specific needs of international students will facilitate broader recruitment from neighboring countries and significantly strengthen the university’s global standing.
Dr. Abbas Soroush addressed the university council regarding the necessity of revising the current processes for international student recruitment and education. “In the domain of international students, we require precise structuring, planning, and policy-making above all else, to effectively leverage our existing institutional capacities for international expansion,” he noted.
Emphasizing the design of specialized educational pathways for this demographic, Dr. Soroush added, “It is essential to offer open and extended education programs tailored to the needs of international students. This will not only address their academic requirements but also foster a larger international presence on our campuses.”
The AUT President continued by noting that these programs need not be centralized. “There is no requirement for all classes and educational programs for international students to be held solely in Tehran. By utilizing the capacities of our other centers and university units, we can deliver this education in diverse locations.”
Dr. Soroush highlighted the strategic potential of various regions in expanding the university’s international reach. He noted that leveraging these locations would allow the university to attract a greater number of students from neighboring nations, thereby expanding scientific and educational engagement across the region.
He also stressed the importance of establishing an educational network connecting university units in Mahshahr and Kish. “The formation of such a network can significantly bolster international education and the delivery of open programs,” he said. “The university’s international division must now engage seriously with this initiative through comprehensive planning to ensure these goals are realized.”
