The Chair of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) has highlighted the field's position in international rankings, emphasizing that computer science, through areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, algorithm design, and modeling, plays a significant role in shaping the future of science and knowledge worldwide. He noted that the discipline can offer graduates a wide range of academic and career opportunities.
According to the Public Relations Office of Amirkabir University of Technology, Dr. Farhad Rahmati, referring to the standing of computer science at AUT, stated that the university's computer science program ranks first nationally in many reputable international rankings.
He noted that computer science encompasses a range of fields, including artificial intelligence, data science, algorithm design, and modeling. He added that the future of science and knowledge worldwide is closely tied to computer science, and that the discipline can provide graduates with promising career prospects and opportunities to pursue further studies at universities around the world.
Emphasizing the fundamental importance of computer science compared with other engineering disciplines, Dr. Rahmati stated: "What is fundamental is computer science itself. In large-scale collaborative projects around the world, two or three positions are consistently allocated to computer science graduates."
He further explained that computer science specialists can become highly capable professionals in virtually any field of their interest by completing just one or two additional courses, thereby securing promising career prospects.
Referring to the diversity of specializations and research areas within the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Dr. Rahmati stated that its researchers work across a wide range of fields, including computer networks and artificial intelligence, as well as theoretical and applied areas of computer science.
He also noted that the faculty's laboratories are highly active and internationally recognized.
He added that mathematics and its applications, alongside computer science, have also increasingly attracted the attention of industry, particularly in large-scale industrial projects, and that their importance continues to grow.
